Artist Statement

The concept i m using is based on War on Poverty.
My inspiration is based on all the quotes i have posted on this blog.
But i figured instead of portraying the negative views or literal portrait regarding it, i came out with a graphic representation of something that seemly tragic or sad but actually containing a positive meaning behind it.
Following are the breakdown of my artwork:

Milk carton

In my opinion, there r 2 main needs in life - food and shelter.
Milk is a meal everyone should have. It was our first meal ever and the only meal we had for a few months of our early life. Our body grew healthy solely on a diet consist of only milk.
For those without food or very little of it, it's hard for the mother to produce enough milk or produce milk that nutritious enough for the baby and often resulting malnourishment and also death.

Blood

For many, the sight of blood often means injury, tragedy and death.
In my artwork, the blood symbolize life.
Blood carries all the oxygen n nutrients we need throughout our body.
Blood also keeps our body warm by regulating heat to our skin.

Hole on the box

It symbolize sacrifice,charity and compassion.

In whole, i m trying to give a message that if we can be unselfish enough to poke a hole and give or share a bit of our resources to those who need it, we are not just giving food or money..we r donating blood into their body.

A short video to promote awareness on poverty in Africa.
But so far only received 37,000 views.
From that 37,000, how many actually take the initiative to do something about it?
